As many of our visitors know we only have boy bongos at the safari park. By not having females it means the boys all get along without distraction. One of our bongo boys ‘Taki’ has left us on the 18/12/13 on his way to Berlin before travelling on to Moscow. This is part of a breeding programme to ensure better genetics among the Bongo population. Bongos are forest species and are under threat from bush meat trade often as a result of illegal poachers requiring food while they are tracking elephant, rhino and other species.
